Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on March 13, 1997.
The arms show a striking bridge in the city, over which the Brandenburg/Havel-Rathenow railway line and federal highway 102 run. The fish symbolizes the location of the city on the Havel. The duck heads come from the von Treskow family arms .
The previous arms were developed and approved in 1963. It showed the bridge, a fish and a river, and a flask. The latter stood for the chemical industry, which had played an important role in Premnitz since 1915.
