COUNTY SCHWALENBERG

Official blazon

  • (de)

Origin/meaning

The County Schwalenberg was a very small county located in the present-day German state of Nordrhein-Westfalen around the castle Schwalenberg. It existed as an independent territory from 1127-1367, when it became part of the County Lippe.

The arms show a canting swallow (Schwalbe) above a star. These arms have been used as part of the larger arms of the Counts of Lippe and the city Schwalenberg.
