In Silber über schwarzem Dreiberg ein eingeschweifter roter Sparren. Origin/meaningThe town was the seat of the Lords of Absberg and the arms are derived from the arms of the family. Until 1820 the seals and images of the arms showed only the chevron, sometimes in a divided shield (red and blue), but mainly in a silver field. In the early 19th century a small star was placed in the point, which was later replaced by the hills, as in the above arms. These are a canting element (Berg=mountain).
