German einem geteilten und unten gespaltenen Schild mit rot-silber gestückeltem Bord, oben in Silber ein schwarzes Balkenkreuz, unten vorn ein rotes Balkenkreuz auf Silber, hinten sieben rote Rauten auf goldenem Untergrund.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in 1951.

The arms show the arms of the former rulers of the area. Of the 32 municipalities of the office, 16 municipalities previously belonged to Kurköln (black cross), 9 municipalities to Kurtrier (red cross), 7 municipalities to the county of Virneburg (seven red diamonds).

The bicoloured bordure is a typical symbol for a Verbandsgemeinde.
