Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on January 22, 1955.
The chevron in the arms is taken from the arms of the Lords of Meschede, who had their estate in the municipality from 1428-1765. The goose is the symbol of St. Liudgerus, the local patron saint.
The base symbolises the Alme river, as the source of the river is in the municipality.
