Origin/meaning
The arms were officially adopted in 1950.
The arms are canting, showing a bishop. The town was named Bischofsheim until 1806. The bishop appeared on the oldest known seal, dating from 1766, but it is likely that the symbol was used much earlier, as Bischofsheim received city rights in 1376 from the Bishops of Worms.
