Origin/meaning
Niedernhall was from 1326-1799 a joined possession of the Princes of Hohenlohe and the Bishops of Mainz. In 1356 Niedernhall received city rights from Emperor Karl IV. From the 15th century onwards all seals and arms showed the image of the local patron saint, St. Lawrence with the grill.
