Origin/meaning
The County Wertheim was a small county located in the present-day German state of Baden-Württemberg. It existed as an independent territory from 1132 until 1547 when it merged with the County Löwenstein to the County Löwenstein-Wertheim which existed until 1806. Capital was the city of Wertheim.
The arms are the arms of the medieval Counts of Wertheim (extinct 1556). The arms have been used as part of the arms of their successors.
