Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on November 13, 1977.

The upper part of the arms is taken from the previous arms of Dettingen and shows the cross on the local parish church, a typical landmark of the village. The lower half shows an atom for the (former) small nuclear research plant in Großwelzheim.
