Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on January 19, 1977.
The upper part shows a canting hook (Winkel) and a cross. The latter is the symbol for St. John, the patron saint of the Penzenhof church. The church was used by the students of the theological faculoty of the Altdoef university from the 17th century until 1809.
The lower half shows a beehive, as beekeeping was historically of great importance for the three villages in the municipality.
