Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on March 9, 1957.
The arms were designed in 1947 as no historical arms or seals were known. On October 4, 1947 the council adopted the arms, and on August 5, 1948 the State of Niedersachsen allowed the use. It took however until 1957 before the Northeim district council officially granted the arms to the village.
The horse in the upper half symbolizes the State of Niedersachsen as well as the importance of horse breeding in the village. The base shows a wreath normally made during the local festivities (Kirmes). The local Kirmes was well known in the region.
