Origin/meaning

Until 1802 the village was a possession of the State of Trier. Hence the old seals showed from the 16^th century until 1802 the cross of the State of Trier and the local patron saint, St. Christopher. The seal from 1803-1866 showed the local fountain on which was shown a woman carrying a jug of water. In 1867 she was replaced by a man pouring water from a jug. The jug finally was granted as arms for the town in 1956. The colours are the colours of the State of Trier.
