Origin/meaning

The arms were proposed in 1956, I have no idea whether the arms were actually adopted.

The arms are based on the shield on the oldest seal of the village, dating from 1490. It's meaning is not known, neither were the colours. The colours were proposed in 1956.

The second seal of the village, dating from the late 15^th century and used until 1627, showed two shields, both with a lion, and as a supporter behind the shields the local patron saint, St. Peter. The two shields show the arms of the two rulers in the area, the Counts of Nassau and of Katzenelnbogen. Since 1806 the village used only seals with the name or, during Napoleonic rule, a crowned letter N as addition.
