STIFT QUERNHEIM

State : Nordrhein-Westfalen
District (Kreis) : Herford
Amt : Amt Kirchlengern
Incorporated into : 1969 Kirchlengern

Wappen von Stift Quernheim/Arms (crest) of Stift Quernheim
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in 1946.

The arms show a gate which is taken from the medieval seal of the local convent (Stift), around which the village developed and after which the municipality is named. The two fleur-de-lys are derived from the 17th century seal of the convent. The base shows a watermill wheel, symbolising the former three watermills in the village. The colours are those of the State of Minden, to which the area historically belonged.
