Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1596 by Count Sebastian Röttinger of Württemberg. The upper part shows the arms of the Welden family, as this family ruled the city from 1570-1840. The lower part shows three canting leaves (Laub=leaves). The hills symbolise that the city is situated on the hills around the Riss river.
