Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in 1948 and again on December 18, 1972.

Münsingen became a residence of the Counts of Württemberg in the 13th century. The city rights were granted between 1263 and 1339.

The oldest seal dates from 1339 and shows a deer antler, derived from the arms of Württemberg. Later seals and arms show three deer or deer antlers within a red bordure, but in the late 19th century the bordure was removed again. In the early 20th century the two additional antlers were removed and the original arms were restored.

Before 1948 the colour of the shield was not clear, Hupp used the golden field of Württemberg as shown below.
