Origin/meaning

Züschen was a posession of the counts of Waldeck and became a city in the first half of the 14th century. The first seal, dating from the same time, already shows the star of Waldeck. The arms thus never changed. The major change was the change of the colour of the field, from gold to silver, to distinguish the arms from the arms of the counts of Waldeck. To distinguish the arms even further it was suggested at the end of last century to add a letter Z to the arms. This, however, never happened.
