Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on November 20, 1893.
The arms show the bar taken from the arms of the Lords Von dem Bottlemberg, who ruled the area in medieval times. The upper half shows the lion of the Counts of Berg, who ruled the area after the former family. The lower half shows a cross, for the Beyenburg Abbey.
