Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The upper half of the arms shows the quartered shield of the Zollern family, Markgraves of Nürnberg, who ruled the area since 1283. The lamb in the lower half is supposedly derived from a sheep-farming privilege granted by Marquise Johann von Brandenburg in 1441. The arms are known since 1558, only the tree was added in the 19th century.
