Wappen von Wolfsburg

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

Even though the castle Wolfsburg is known since 1135, there are no historical arms known. The arms were granted in 1952, but they have been used since 1947. The official picture was slightly changed in 1961. The arms are canting, showing a wolf on a castle (Burg). The waves in the lower part stand for the former village of Rothehof-Rothenfelde, one of the oldest parts of the city.
