BÖHMENKIRCH

State : Baden-Württemberg
District (Kreis) : Göppingen
Additions : 1973 Schnittlingen, Treffelhausen; 1974 Steinenkirch

Wappen von Böhmenkirch

Official blazon

(de) In Rot eine goldene Holzkirche.

Origin/meaning

The council used in 1924 a seal that probably dated from the early 19th century and that showed a single tree. When the council applied for arms in 1924 the State archives proposed a wooden church.

Until 1957 several different churches were seen in the local seals and on images. In 1957 the above arms were adopted by the council and granted on September 4, 1958. The church is canting (Böhmenkirch = Baumen-Kirch = tree-church). The colours are taken from the colours of the arms of the Lords of Rechberg, who ruled the village around 1302.
