The arms were officially granted on June 11, 1969.

The arms combine elements form the arms of the important local families who owne dthe Amerang estate for some time. The pliers are taken from the arms of the Lords of Amerang, from the 12th until the 14th century owners of the estate. The bar is taken from their successors, the Von Laiming family, who owned the estate until the early 16th century.

The blue and silver also refer to Bayern.
