Official blazon
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were adopted in 2000.

The linden tree is a sacred tree in the Sorbic history, the area is a traditional Sorben area (a Slavic people living in Easter Germany). The 11 leaves symbolise the 11 original municipalities in the Amt (Bärenbrück, Drachhausen, Drehnow, Grötsch, Heinersbrück, Maust, Neuendorf, Peitz, Preilack, Tauer and Turnow).

The black bridge symbolizes the city of Peitz (fortification), as well, together with the fish and base, the many rivers and streams in the area. The fish also symbolizes fisheries and nature. The black colour of the bridge symbolizes the coal mining; the lines are electricity lines, symbolizing the local power plant.
