Official blazon
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on November 19, 1970.

The dove refers to the so-called Remigiusland, an historical area ruled by the Bishop of Reims, Saint Remigius, one of whose symbols was a dove. The blue lion is taken from the arms of the Counts of Veldenz, who ruled most of the area for a long time. The wavy bend symbolises the Glan and Sulzbach rivers, as well as the -bach (brook, stream) part of the name.

Literature: Debus, 1988
