BITBURG-PRÜM (BIT)
State : Rheinland-Pfalz
Incorporated into : 1970 Bitburg, Prüm
German | blazon wanted |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on August 27, 1973.
The upper part of the arms is derived from the arms of the former Bitburg district. The Paschal Lamb, or Agnus Dei, is derived from the former Prüm district arms. The fourth quarter is a simplified version of the arms of Luxembourg, as the Western part of the district historically belonged to the County (later Duchy) of Luxembourg for several hundred years.
