Official blazon

In Blau auf grünem Boden ein zinnengekrönter silberner Torturm zwischen zwei grünen Tannen

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on June 23, 1813.

The arms are canting, showing a tower between two pine trees, the name Burg in der Au means Castle in the Meadow. The composition already appeared on the oldest known seal of the town, dating from the early 14th century. On the seal there is a small shield in front of the tower; this shield showed the arms of Austria, as the city at the time was an Austrian possession. The small shield was removed in 1805 when the city became part of Bayern. The arms were subsequently officially granted in 1813 by King Max I of Bayern.
