Origin/meaning
The arms were adopted by the municipality in 1936 and officially granted in 1955.
The hook is taken from the arms of the Counts of Galen, who ruled the area from 1677-1827. The cross and rose are taken from the arms of the Lords of Dinklage, who acted as vassals for the owners of the castle and fortress in Vechta in the 13th-16th century. The local castle was built in 1403 by Hugo von Dinklage.
