Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on September 24, 2010.
The first quarter shows an urn, referring to a 2400 years old grave field in the area, and thus a symbol for the long habitation of the area. The green field with the wheat ear refers both to the agricultural character ofthe village, as well as to the name, which is derived from 'a cleared field for seeds'.
The lower half shows a silver bar in red, for the Lordship of Vianden, to which the area historically belonged.
Das 2400 Jahre alte Tongefäß stammt aus einem keltischen Hügelgrab auf Breitenweg bei Banzenhof. Es ist das älteste Zeugnis für die Besiedlung des Eschfelder Raumes. (Rheinisches Landesmuseum Trier).
Der frühere Ortsname Eszfeld enthält den althochdeutschen Begriff Esz mit der Bedeutung von einem gerodeten Saatfeld. Darauf verweisen die grüne Weidefläche und die Ähre.
Über ein halbes Jahrhundert gehörte die Meierei Eschfeld zur luxemburgischen Grafschaft Vianden, in deren Wappen ein silberner Balken auf rotem Untergrund liegt. The circle shows the cross of the Trinitarian Order, as the parish was subordinate to the Trinitarian Convent in Vianden.
