The arms show in the upper half three pock-axes, a canting symbol (Pickel-hacken in German), probably derived from the arms of the Lords of Bickelheim. The three exes already appeared on the oldest known seal of the village, known since 1508. A later, 17<sup>th</sup> century, seal shows the same image. A seal from the late 18<sup>th</sup> century shows the above arms, with in the base the wheel of the State of [[Mainz (State)|Mainz]].
