Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted in 1953.
The arms show the local patron saint, St. Michael. The small shield is a combination of a canting element (Hacke), and the checquered shield of the Counts of Sponheim, to which the village histroically belonged.
A proposal shown in 1956 showed only the hooks and the Sponheim arms:
