Origin/meaning
The arms were granted in 1887 and was an exception to the rule at the time that Landgemeinde ('agricultural municipalities') were not entitled to use arms. The arms show the imperial eagle, with the chequered shield of the Counts of Sponheim. Kröv was a large and important Imperial estate from the 9th century until 1274. In 1274 it was given as a loan to the Counts of Sponheim.
In the early 20th century the arms showed the same composition, but in slightly different colours.
