Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1950.

The arms are based on the oldest known seal of Kruft, which dates from the 15th century. The village was a possession of the Maria Laach Abbey since 1093 and the local seals thus showed the image of the H.Madonna, the patron saint of Maria Laach. Since 1689 the village belonged to the State of Trier (until 1803) and the colours of the arms are thus derived from the colours of the State of Trier.

Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
