LANGENBERG

State : Thüringen
Urban District (Stadtkreis) : Gera
Incorporated into : 1950 Gera

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on June 8, 1934. In 1938 the arms were changed as the lion was holding a swastika. This was again removed in 1945.

I have no image of the arms with the swastika, only a seal:

The upper half shows the lion of Reuss (see also Gera), the lower the arms of the Lords von Eichicht, who ruled the village for around 300 years.

Until 1933 arms show a crane, taken from the Lords of Kranichfeld. Due to succession, the crane later was taken by the Counts of Reuss, as the village was part of the County of Reuss.
