State : Niedersachsen
District (Kreis) : Verden
Additions: 1972 Daverden, Etelsen, Haberloh, Holtebüttel, Völkersen

Wappen von Langwedel (Weser)/Arms (crest) of Langwedel (Weser)
Official blazon
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on June 13, 1978.

The arms show a castle gate, which refers to the former Bischofsburg in Langwedel as well as to the Etelser Schanzen in Giersdorf and the Etelsen Castle. The old arms of Etelsen also showed a division line symbolising the Etelsen Castle.

The number of turrets is six, which refers to the six former municipalities.

The upper part shows the typical gable of the farmhouses in the region, symbolising the agricultural character of the area, as well as the importance of horse breeding.

The base shows the Weser river, and the gate also refers to the bridges in the municipality.
