German heraldry:

Selected collector's items from Germany:

LUPBURG

State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz (until 1973 Parsberg)
Additions : 1972 See (partly); 1978 Degerndorf (partly)

Lupburg.jpg

Official blazon

Geteilt; oben neun silberne und blaue Rauten, belegt mit einem roten Zinnenturm; unten in Blau ein silberner Balken.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1586.

The background of the arms is the arms of the Wittelsbach family, who were the Counts of the Pfalz. The tower is probably the castle built by the Lords of Lupburg, who ruled the town until 1313.
