Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted in 1902.
The cross is taken from the arms of the State and Diocese of Speyer, to which the area belonged from 940 until the end of the 13th century. The fish are the symbol of St. Ulrich, the local patron saint. The arms were designed by the State Archives of Baden in 1900-1901 and adopted by the municipality in 1902.
The oldest known seal of the village dates from 1755, and shows a shield with a letter M and some kind of village symbol. A second seal from 1816 also used the same symbols. The municipality initially wanted to use the symbol as arms, but finally agreed in 1902 to adopt the proposal.
