Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on November 12, 1953.
The fleur-de-lys are taken from the arms of the Von Nehden family, known as lords of the area in at least 1344. The village is first mentioned in 1113 as a possession of the Abbey of Corvey. The colours are those of the abbey.
