NORDHEIM VOR DER RHÖN

State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Rhön-Grabfeld

Nordhei2.jpg

Official blazon

Geteilt von Rot und Silber; oben eine nach links gewendete, gekrümmte silberne Forelle, unten ein durchgehendes schwarzes Tatzenkreuz.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on August 28, 1972.

The cross is taken from the arms of the Fulda Abbey, which had possessions in the area from the 9th century onwards.

The trout is taken from the arms of the Lords von der Thann, who played a mayor role in the local history. There are still two large estates in the municipality, which were built by the family in the 16th and 17th century.
