Wappen von Reit im Winkl

Official blazon

The arms were granted on October 27, 1950 and replaced older arms dating from July 16, 1929.

The original arms showed in blue the local military memorial chapel on a green hill. The present arms show the eagle of the diocese of Chiemsee, to which the village belonged from 1275-1804. The shape of the silver field is canting (Winkl=corner). The tree and axe symbolise the fact that the village was founded during the second round of cleaning the forests in the Chiemgau area in the 11th and 12th century.
