Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on August 19, 1992.
The fence has several meanings; it symbolises the historical local defence structure (Landwehr), it also refers to the old castle in Rieth, but it especially refers to the former Iron Curtain, which ran very close to the village. The two reeds are canting (Riedkolben). The cross symbolises the old church in the village.
