Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on March 19, 1951.

The red wavy bar is canting for Rottach (Rot=red, Bach=brook). The upper part shows a heron, taken from the arms of the Stöckl family, one of the most influential families in Rottach from 1275-1523. The boat in the lower part of the arms is a symbol for Egern, as sailing on the Tegernsee has been of great importance for this village for many centuries.

Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
