Official blazon
German In Blau eine goldene Sonne mit Gesicht und elf Strahlen.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on February 11, 2004.

The sun as a canting symbol has been used for centuries by the city. The colours are taken from the arms of the Counts of Solms, who ruled the city from 1537-1945. After the mergers in 2003 the number of rays was fixed to 11, for the 11 former municipalities.
