Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on February 25, 1982.

The upper half shows an oil pump (pumpjack or horsehead pump), symbolising the local oil field and oil extraction. The horseshoe in the lower half shows the (former) agricultural character of the municiaplity. The neech leaves symbolise the old beech tree (Stremelboom) in the village, a local natural monument.
