UNTERGRIESBACH

State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Passau (until 1973 Wegscheid)
Additions : 1971 Lämmersdorf; 1972 Gottsdorf, Oberötzdorf, Schaibing

Wappen von Untergriesbach

Official blazon

  • (de) In Silber ein linkshin gewendeter steigender roter Wolf.

Origin/meaning

The arms show the wolf of Passau, as the town was ruled by the Bishops of Passau until 1806. To distinguish the arms from the arms of Passau, the lion was facing left. The arms are known from the end of the 18th century, but are probably older. The arms thus have never changed.
