Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on September 24, 1956.

The arms are identical to the family arms of the Bavarian Freiherren (Lords) von Weichs, which had their ancestral seat in Weichs an der Glonn and have been historically traceable since the 12th century. The arms can be seen on seals, rolls of arms and on tombstones in the churches of Weichs, Markt Indersdorf, Obergriesbach and the Freising Cathedral since the 14th century. The Lords of Weichs played an important role in the history of the community up until the 19th century.

The arms of the family are even used in arms of Amt Eslohe and Scharfenberg in the Sauerland.
