Origin/meaning

The arms were designed and adopted in 1901.

The State Archives of Baden designed the arms based on the arms and seals of the Lords of Gärtringen, the oldest known family that had possessions in the village from the 13th until at least the 15th century.

At the same time the sickles refer to the agricultural character of the village in 1901.
