Punatsessa kentässä aaltokoroinen kultahirsi jossa kolme mustaa, soikeaa, kyljiltään sisään päin kaartuvaa rengasta.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on June 9, 1965.

The bar symbolises the name of the town (lahti = bay). The three rings symbolise the coal formations that are found in the area. It is thought that these were derived from one of the earliest forms of life on earth. Literature:
