New Series - Index Book

In 1938 an idex was published on the new series. This book first gives a register on state followed by a register on name. At the end of the book there are several pages on the company itself.

Two editions of this index book exist, a harcover and a softcover version. The content of both is identical.

The index book also gives new information on the number of inhabitants, based on the census of 1933, compared to the 1925 census as in the albums. The book does not list any variations, only the published additions.

Since 1934 Germany was gradully abandoning the old system of States, provinces and Regierungsbezirke, and changing it into new districts ('Gaue'). By 1938 the country was divided in 30 such districts. The tables in the book therefore have an empty column. This was added so people could add the name of the new district ('Gau') in which the town was to be situated.

The book is scanned as pdf files, like the rest of the series. Due to the publication in old Germanic font, the file is not easily searchable by Adobe. Fo rbetter access to the material, this DVD has an index for the new series and old series. In addition, the catalogue files give a complete index including all images.

Mistakes in the Indexbook:

  • Ritzebüttel (Hamburg number 18) is missing
  • Kelbra is mentioned as being part of Westfalen-Minden instead of Sachsen-Merseburg
  • For Coburg it is not mentioned that the arms are also part of the Nachträge
