DEIDESHEIM

State : Rheinland-Pfalz
District (Kreis) : Bad Dürkheim
Verbandsgemeinde : Verbandsgemeinde Deidesheim

Wappen von Deidesheim

Official blazon

(de)

Origin/meaning

The town was a possession of the Bishops of Speyer (Hochstift) and got city rights in 1395. The first seal showed the cross of Speyer and a star. The star is probably the symbol of St. Mary, the patron saint of the local church. The second star was added in 1693. The present arms show a slightly changed cross and were granted on May 15, 1845.
