Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on January 23, 1979.

The arms show the cross of the State of Trier, to which the largest part of the municipality historically belonged. The red tower symbolises the arms of Welschbillig, and is taken from the 14th century seal of the town. It has three battlements, one for each of the former Verbandsgemeinden that merged in 1970.

The lower half shows the 'Igeler Säule' landmark in Igel (see also the arms of Igel).
